JOIN US FOR A WEEK WITHOUT VIOLENCE (OCT. 18th-22nd)
In honor of YWCA USA’s Week Without Violence, YWCA Greater Cleveland is re-releasing our 21-Day Racial Equity and Social Justice Challenge week on Gender-Based Violence. Register and receive daily emails from October 18th to October 22nd that will empower you to take a deep dive into this important topic.
The 21-Day Racial Equity and Social Justice Challenge is designed to create dedicated time and space to build more effective social justice habits, particularly those dealing with issues of race, power, privilege, and leadership.
YWCA Greater Cleveland wants to thank and acknowledge Dr. Eddie Moore Jr., Debby Irving, and Dr. Marguerite Penick for their leadership in the field of racial equity as exhibited in their 21 Day Racial Equity and Habit Building Challenge and the movement they helped to initiate. YWCA’s content is independently designed, written, and curated by YWCA Greater Cleveland staff as part of racial equity and social justice programs offered to the community.
Each day of the challenge you will be presented with activities such as reading an article, listening to a podcast, reflecting on personal experience and more. Participation in an activity like this helps us to discover how racial injustice and social injustice impact our community, to connect with one another, and to identify ways to dismantle racism and other forms of discrimination.
We hope that you will go into this challenge with an open heart and an open mind, ready to be pushed out of your comfort zone. We know these discussions can be difficult and can bring up powerful emotions, but your commitment to increasing your awareness is what will help move our community forward.
To engage with other people doing the challenge, use the hashtag #WWV2021 to share your reflections on social media. You can also join our Facebook group where participants can continue the conversation in a safe space.
