Cleveland – February 6, 2023 – Olivet Housing and Community Development Corporation (OHDCD)’s latest community-based initiative, Grow with Google, is coming to YWCA Greater Cleveland. Grow with Google is a free program that helps ensure that the opportunities created by technology are available to everyone, particularly marginalized people.
This program kicked off on Friday, January 27th. YWCA Greater Cleveland program participants are using the Google platform and other tech resources to learn about digital skills, job readiness, financial literacy, and more. The goal of the program is to remove barriers to employment and other resources only available online.
The current Grow with Google course will continue through the month of February, but YWCA plans to host additional sessions to throughout the year. Some of the workshop topics include:
- Digital Skills for Everyday Tasks
- Learn the Basics of Google Drive
- Learn the Basics of Google Docs
- Learn the Basics of Google Calendar
- Learn the Basics of Google Meet
“We are excited to be bringing this program to YWCA,” said Helen Forbes Fields, President and CEO of YWCA Greater Cleveland. “Cleveland has been deeply impacted by the digital divide. Too many people in our community do not have access to high-speed internet or computers and YWCA is proud to partner with Grow with Google to do our part to close the technology education gap.”
YWCA Greater Cleveland is committed to supporting program participants in achieving their educational, financial, and employment goals, and this critical program will help participants acquire the skills and certifications needed to take the next step in their careers.
