Every year, as youth age out of the foster care system, many are not given the opportunity to thrive. Independence Place provides the stability and safety needed for residents to achieve permanent housing, seek educational and career development opportunities, meet physical and mental health goals, and develop life and parenting skills.
A previous resident of Independence Place, a young woman, spent much of her childhood in the foster care system, eventually aging out upon turning 18. After experiencing homelessness and spending time in the shelter system, she was welcomed home to Independence Place. With stable housing and the partnership of her Independence Place Life Coach, this young woman was able to achieve her educational and career goals by completing the Job Corps program and attending Cuyahoga Community College. She has since found permanent housing in the community and is continuing to thrive.
Too often, these stories go unheard. Join our mission and help support a community where our youth are cared for and supported on their journey to self-sufficiency. Celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Independence Place with us, and consider making a gift today.
