Annette McDowell
Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Education
Cuyahoga Community College
Annette’s mentor and colleague Sharon Calhoun describes Annette as a change agent with the mission of being the, “wind beneath our students’ wings.”
As Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Education she is an active and hands-on mentor who continues to personally strive for self-improvement and I demonstrate that to all of my mentees while encouraging them to do the same. Annette is most fulfilled when she has been able to teach concepts to her students and they are fully able to demonstrate those skills when they get into the classroom with young children. “This lets me know that they got what I it and that is exciting.”
Annette’s parents immigrated from Guyana and instilled the importance of education on Annette at a very young age. “My mother told me that ‘education can never be taken away from you, so get as much as you can while you can.”
